The basics

How Corda works

1

Find a kiosk

Look for a Corda charging kiosk near the entrance or main gallery of your venue. Available chargers are visible in the slots on the front of the kiosk.

2

Scan the QR code

Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on the kiosk screen. This opens the Corda checkout page in your browser — no app download required.

3

Enter your card details

Provide a credit or debit card to secure the rental. A temporary authorization hold is placed on your card — no charge is made at this step. If you use a debit card, the hold amount will temporarily reduce your available bank balance until the charger is returned.

4

Take the charger with the flashing light

Once checkout is complete, the charger assigned to you will begin flashing. Pull it out and plug in using the built-in Lightning, USB-C, or Micro-USB cable.

5

Return before you leave

Slide the charger back into any open slot on any Corda kiosk at the venue. Press firmly until the kiosk screen shows Return Successful.

6

Deposit released

Your authorization hold is released immediately upon return. If your rental exceeded the 3-hour complimentary window, any applicable late fees will be deducted before the remaining hold is released. Depending on your bank, the authorization hold may take 3–5 business days to clear from your statement.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question?

Borrowing
How do I borrow a charger?

Scan the QR code on the kiosk screen with your phone's camera — no app required. The Corda checkout page will open in your browser. Enter your card details to secure the rental, and the kiosk will indicate which charger to take with a flashing light.

Is there a cost to borrow a charger?

Borrowing is completely free for venue visitors. A temporary deposit hold is placed on your card to secure the unit, but no charge is made at the time of borrowing. The hold is released as soon as you return the charger.

The rental includes a 3-hour complimentary window. After that, a late fee of $1 per hour applies.

What cables are included?

Every Corda charger includes three built-in cables: USB-C, Lightning, and Micro-USB — compatible with virtually all smartphones and tablets. You don't need to bring your own cable.

How much charge does the charger hold?

Each unit holds enough charge for one to two full smartphone charges, depending on your device. Most visitors get 60–100% added charge during a typical visit.

How many chargers can I borrow at once?

One charger per card. If you're with a group, each person can borrow one using their own card.

Returning
Where do I return the charger?

Return to any open slot on any Corda kiosk at the same venue — it doesn't have to be the same unit you borrowed from. Press firmly until the kiosk screen confirms Return Successful.

If all kiosks at your venue are full, email us at support@cordahq.com and we'll help resolve it.

What if I forget to return it before I leave?

Please return the charger to any open slot at the venue before you leave. A late fee of $1 per hour applies after the first 3 hours. If you're unable to return it, email us at support@cordahq.com and we'll help resolve it.

The kiosk isn't accepting my return — what do I do?

You won't be charged for a failed return. If the kiosk isn't accepting your charger, please leave it with a venue staff member if possible, then email us at support@cordahq.com with the venue name and approximate time and we'll manually clear the return on our end.

Can I return at a different venue?

Chargers should be returned at the venue where they were borrowed. If you've left the venue and are unable to return it, email us at support@cordahq.com and we'll work with you on the situation.

Deposits & Late Fees
How does the deposit work?

When you borrow a charger, a temporary authorization hold is placed on your card. This is not a charge — it's a hold to secure the unit. The hold is released immediately when you return the charger.

Depending on your bank, the hold may appear on your statement for 3–5 business days after release, but no funds are transferred.

Using a debit card? The hold will temporarily reduce your available checking account balance by the hold amount. This is not a charge, but the funds will be unavailable until your bank processes the release, which can take 3–7 business days depending on your bank — even after Corda releases the hold on our end.

When do late fees apply?

Rentals include a 3-hour free window. After that, a late fee of $1 per hour applies. Late fees will not exceed the $30 security deposit. We recommend setting a reminder to return your charger within the 3-hour window.

What if the charger is lost or damaged?

If a charger is lost or returned damaged, your $30 security deposit will be forfeited. Email us at support@cordahq.com as soon as possible — we'll work with you on the situation.

I see a charge I don't recognize — what should I do?

Email support@cordahq.com with the date, venue, and approximate time of your rental. We'll look into it promptly and follow up within 3 business days.

Technical
The charger isn't charging my device — what should I try?

Try these steps in order:

1. Press the power button on the side of the unit — it may have shut off from lack of use.

2. Make sure the cable is fully seated in your device's port. Try a different cable connector if the first doesn't fit snugly.

3. If the unit still isn't working, return it to the kiosk and borrow a fresh one.

4. If the kiosk is empty, email us at support@cordahq.com — we'll waive any fees associated with your rental.

Is it safe to leave my device charging in my bag?

Yes — Corda chargers are designed for on-the-go use and are safe to use while stowed. As with any lithium-ion device, avoid exposing the unit to extreme heat, and do not continue using it if it feels unusually warm.

Can I take the charger with me when I leave?

Corda chargers are intended to be used and returned at the venue where you borrowed them. Please do not remove the charger from the venue. If you leave the venue without returning it, late fees will apply and your $30 security deposit will be forfeited.

Use of the device constitutes acceptance of these Terms, consistent with the User Notice printed on each unit.

02 The Rental

Corda grants you a limited, non-transferable license to use one charger unit for personal device charging during your visit to the participating venue. The unit remains the property of Corda Networks LLC at all times.

Late fees. A fee of $1.00 per hour applies to each hour or portion thereof beyond the 3-hour complimentary window. Late fees will not exceed the $30 security deposit.

Lost or damaged units. If a unit is not returned or is returned in a damaged condition, the $30 security deposit will be forfeited. Corda will make reasonable efforts to contact you before processing the forfeiture.
